Bodies of Christ: Marriage and Singleness

Bodies of Christ: Marriage and Singleness

Let me get to it right off the bat: Sometimes I get nervous when some imply that to be Christian is to be married. It may not be stated that bluntly (at least most of the time), but some of the assumptions of many of our brothers and sisters in Christ seem to imply that one is not complete if s/he isn’t married.

This is false. Much of Christian scripture and history has demonstrated to us that singleness is no more or less than married life.

This week we’ll be looking at singleness and its place as a destination of completeness in the Christian life. To prepare for worship, read¬†this week’s passages. While we’ll read portions of I Corinthians 7 in worship, I encourage you to read the whole chapter to prepare.
